The 10th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations· Sino-South Korean Dialogue on Confucianism held in South Korea

On April 16th, the 10th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations· Sino-South KorenDialogue on Confucianism, sponsored by Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies, China Confucius Foundation and the Municipal People's Government of Jiningcity,was held in Sungkyunkwan, South Korea.

The dialogue was divided into two sessions: keynote speechesand on-site talks centeredon the theme of"Modern Values of Confucianism". Experts at the meeting agreed that both China and South Korea belong to the Confucian cultural circle in East Asia, with close geographical proximity and cultural affinity.Confucianism, which spans a history of more than 2,500 years, is not only a doctorine, but also a civilization with its own spiritual realm, political thoughts, self-cultivation concepts, educational approaches, ways of coexistence, and social ideals, all with rich modern values, providing Confucian wisdom for solving the profoundglobalchanges unseen in a century.

During the event, representatives of Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies(Secretariat of China Confucius Foundation) and Sungkyunkwan of South Korea signed a cooperation framework agreement, and the two sides will carry out extensive cooperation on Confucian cultural exchanges and regular visits.The participants also visited Sungkyungwan, a historical and cultural heritage of South Korea, the Hanlin Academy of the Rulin Halland had in-depth exchanges with South Korean students.

From July 10 to 11, the 10th Nishan Forum on World Civilizationswill be held in Qufu, Jining city, Shandong Province. At the conference, the Chinese representatives extended invitation tothe ROK guests to attend the forum, wishing that the two parities willshare the stories of Confucianism and promote mutual learning among civilizations.
